Details and tips
How it works
The browser decodes the original at its orientation-corrected dimensions and reads a selected pixel without resizing. HEX includes an alpha suffix when needed. The palette groups evenly spaced samples into similar RGB buckets and returns up to six common groups. These estimated palette colors are opaque and may differ from individual pixels.
Made for everyday images
Match a website accent to a photo, find an illustration’s colors or create CSS variables for a mockup. Use the palette for inspiration and the pixel picker when an exact decoded pixel matters.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Decoding, pixel sampling and palette extraction happen in your browser.
Is the palette every color in the image?
No. It estimates up to six common color groups, excludes pixels below 50% opacity and merges nearby colors. The selected pixel is read separately at original resolution.
Does this produce print-ready CMYK values?
No. It provides browser-decoded RGB, HEX and HSL values, not calibrated print measurements or CMYK conversions.
